8. Egyptian Vulture
This small vulture species has an estimated global population of around 15,000 individuals. It features a white head and neck, a grey body, dark grey wings, and a black tail with a white tip. Its diet includes carrion, small animals, eggs, bones, plants, and fruits. Found in Africa, southern Europe, and western Asia, it inhabits unforested and semi-arid areas such as steppes, grasslands, and deserts, preferring to nest on cliffs, in trees, or on the ground.
This species faces threats from hunting, habitat destruction, poison use, egg collection, and pesticide application. To ensure its survival, conservation efforts are underway, as it plays a crucial role in the ecosystem by cleaning up carcasses and serving as an important part of the food chain.
